This fence post is a very popular perch for a wide variety of species.

In this case a tidy Pied Wagtail took it over for several minutes for a bit of tail flicking and general displaying.  

Whilst I am not an expert on these birds I have noticed that there can be quite a wide variation in plumage between individual birds.

The texture and colour of the wood is very visually arresting.
