I suspect that the actual number in the area is quite a lot more.
The location of the south hide is roughly
equidistant between the reserve and Town Lake Thrapston so it is possibly a bit of a
hot spot.
The light quality was excellent catching the under wings very nicely with good eye contact.
The buff underparts and absence of '' red trousers '' suggest that this is a first summer bird ( I could be wrong ).
Very nice shot of this fantastic bird John, well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks Graham ......
ReplyDeleteIt's sounding like Titchmarsh is becoming a very good spot for Hobbies.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite Raptor Doug, their flight is without equal imho.
ReplyDeleteTerrific capture!
ReplyDeleteThanks Paul, greatly appreciated ..... if you feel you want to visit TLNR for the Hobbys let me know ..... good light is a must.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very nice image John. To have such a healthy population on the reserve is fantastic. Almost rivals the numbers present on the expansive Lakenheath Fen!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comment Paul ....... seven is a minima, I suspect that the true head count is much greater.
