Common as they are Wrens, in my experience, are very secretive and difficult to photograph as they flit about and dive into cover at the first sign of potential threat.
Lovely little birds.

Great warm late afternoon sunshine .....
Here in Northamptonshire after the snow yesterday the Sun shone in a cloudless blue sky in the afternoon.
Wrens are a challenging bird to photograph in my opinion, often heard, rarely out in the open and even more fleetingly still.
This little character paused briefly from foraging in the reed beds to enjoy the late afternoon sun, if only it had turned its head a bit to get its beak in the frame.

Everywhere yet nowhere ........ The elusive Wren
One of our most widespread and smallest birds they can be found in most Rural habitats and certainly in Urban areas.
They are also very timid and, in my experience, not the easiest of birds to get an image of as they will disappear into cover as soon as they are aware of your presence.
Today the light quality was excellent so I went down to the reserve as I was after some images of Stonechats which I duly got from one of the hides.
This little chap was calling with frequency from the reed bed and eventually showed for long enough for me to rattle off a series of shots.
Its a shame that the background bulrush was not a few inches in either direction, could be, should be are oft emotions of photographers, but what a lovely little character.

Jenny Wren .........
One of our smallest and most numerous birds in the United Kingdom the Wren is not the easiest to find out in the open for the purpose of photography. More often heard than seen.
Probably the best opportunities are presented when they perch with cocked tail to sing heir vibrant song, but they will dive for cover at a moments notice if disturbed.
Its fairly unusual to find one in reed beds, a marginal habitat that I understand tends to be used by less successful birds down at the lower end of the pecking order.
