Frozen food ........

I make every effort to look after my garden birds in winter with peanut, mixed seed and niger seed feeders. 

In the hope of attracting winter thrushes I also impale halved apples on some shrubs on the perimeter.

There is not much else that I can do about the current weather and below zero temperatures that prevail at the moment other than make sure that drinking water continues to be available by breaking and removing ice from the water bowls.

This cock Blackbird is certainly making the most of the apples to supplement its diet as the ground is currently impenetrable.
